Maine Science Festival COVID-19 Protocol

The Maine Science Festival is indebted to our presenters, all of whom volunteer their time and expertise to share with Festival-goers. The following vaccination and masking guidelines will keep all MSF attendees as safe as possible.

Proof of full vaccination with an FDA-approved vaccine (photo of vaccination card acceptable) along with a valid ID and universal masking is required for all.

Those who cannot get vaccinated (under age 5 currently, or are medically unable) will need to show a negative COVID-19 test.

Approved tests:

  • A negative PCR test taken within 48 hours of the MSF event start time; the test results must clearly show the date and time of the test.

  • A negative COVID-19 rapid (antigen) test taken within 12 hours of the event start time. This test may be performed by a medical professional or by using an over-the-counter testing kit.

Together with the proof of vaccination, all festival goers18 years or older must also present a government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license, school ID, or passport. Children 18 and under do not need ID if attending with an adult.

Entry will be denied for guests who do not provide the documentation as required above.

Masks are required for all guests, regardless of vaccination status.  Masks must be worn at all times while at MSF events unless eating or drinking. All masks must completely cover the nose and mouth and comply with the CDC guidelines for acceptable face coverings.

The following masks are prohibited:

  • Masks with exhalation valves

  • Masks made of loosely woven fabrics

  • Scarves, buffs, bandanas, gaiters

  • Face shields alone without a mask

By virtue of entering a Maine Science Festival event, guests are acknowledging that all of the statements below are true:

  • I have not tested positive for COVID-19 through a diagnostic test in the past ten (10) days.

  • I am not and have not recently experienced (within the last 48 hours) any new or worsening symptoms of COVID-19

  • I have not had close contact or proximate contact with any person(s) confirmed with a diagnostic test or suspected based on symptoms, to have Covid-19 within the past ten (10) days.

Please stay home if you are feeling ill.

These requirements are subject to change. We will continue to follow CDC guidelines and the science to keep people safe.
